Abstract

Seven F2 populations of (Triticum aestivum L) obtained from cross combinations  Lasani-2008 Iqbal-2000, Lasani-2008 9432, Lasani-2008 9436, Lasani-2008 9444, Iqbal-2000 Lasani-2008, Iqbal-2000 9432 and Iqbal-2000 9436 involving six varieties / lines were studied to determine the broad-sense heritability and genetic advance  for plant height, days to heading, days to maturity, number of tillers per plant, flag leaf area, peduncle length and grain yield per plant. The broad-sense heritability estimates ranged from 16.24-66.62, 69.40-62.73, 61.68-91.18, 15.96-75.30, 23.37-74.43, 59.73- 93.22 and 8.19-78.86% respectively. The genetic advance estimates for plant height and days to heading varies from 0.62 - 4.64 and 3.65-8.02 respectively. While the genetic advance values ranged from 2.68-8.82, 0.43-3.50, 1.02-4.20, 0.30-6 and 2.86-8.82 for number of tillers per plant, flag leaf area, peduncle length, grain yield per plant and days to maturity respectively. The cross Lasani-2008 Iqbal-2000, Lasani-2008 9432 appeared to be most promising segregating material.
